The Fair Food Pledge

The Fair Food Pledge is a partnership between Migrant Legal aid, food entrepreneurs and agriculture dependent retailers in which vendors and employers are jointly monitored for fair and ethical treatment of farmworkers. If farmworkers are unlawfully treated, this whistleblower program responds to the violation by alerting vendors and agriculture dependent retailers of the violation.

The Pledge encourages and supports compliance with all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations that affect Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers. A corporate responsibility representative is designated as someone to receive and respond to notices of credible complaints about suspected legal violations or active labor disputes. If complaints arise, members of the Pledge will properly review and address these complaints and take immediate corrective action if necessary.

Furthermore, the Pledge favors employers who respect the dignity of workers and treat them with fairness and equity without threat of force, violence or retaliation.

Lastly, the Pledge maintains a whistleblower policy that protects Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers from unlawful retaliation upon exposing concerns about work.
